Holiday Shower Melts
Holiday Shower Steamers Add a little holiday nostalgia to your shower routine with these festive shower melts. They make the perfect handmade gift or seasonal bathroom treat. Infused with wintery essential oils like sweet orange and clove or peppermint and eucalyptus, melts transform any shower into a cozy holiday spa.
What You’ll Need:
1 cup baking soda
½ cup citric acid
½ cup corn starch
1½ tsp essential oils: Sweet orange, clove and cinnamon are a great combo or peppermint & eucalyptus make a fresh, invigorating scent.
Optional: Soap Colorant or natural colorants
Spray bottle with witch hazel or water
Silicone molds of your choice
Non-metallic mixing bowl + whisk
Gloves
Airtight storage containers of cellophane gift bags
Instructions:
Mix the Dry Ingredients In a non-metallic bowl, combine baking soda, citric acid, and corn starch. Mix well to remove clumps - I use a long whisk.
Add Essential Oils and Optional Color Add your chosen essential oil(s) and (if desired) a bit of colorant. Mix well with gloved hands to evenly distribute the scent and color. Tip: You can also add your colorant directly to the witch hazel spray bottle for a more even tone.
Spray with Witch Hazel Lightly spritz the mixture with witch hazel while mixing. Add just enough for the mixture to clump when squeezed. Avoid over-wetting to prevent fizzing.
Fill the Molds Place your silicone molds on a tray for easy transport. Firmly press the mixture into the molds and spritz with witch hazel.
Let Dry Allow your shower melts to dry in the molds for 12–24 hours until completely hardened.
Unmold and Store Gently pop the melts out and store in an airtight container. Display in a decoupaged oyster shell for a unique, beachy holiday twist, or wrap a few in cellophane with ribbon for easy gifting.
Place one melt on the shower floor or shelf (away from the direct water stream). As steam builds, the melt dissolves and fills your shower with festive, refreshing aromatherapy.
These melts make excellent gifts for teachers, neighbors, or holiday party hosts. Pair with a printable gift tag and you’ve got a thoughtful, seasonal DIY!
